A non-invasive procedure to detect abnormalities within the internal organs.
At College Manor Veterinary Hospital, we use our in-house digital x-ray and ultrasound diagnostic tools to further investigate problems your pet may be experiencing. If your pets are ones who like to eat things they shouldn’t, an x-ray can help us see if there are any obstructions in the intestinal tract. X-rays can also help diagnose pneumonia, heart failure, tumours, etc.
We also have a digital dental x-ray system which helps us to gain a clear and detailed assessment of a pet’s dental issues. It allows us to provide the best care possible. All of our x-rays are digital and allows us to enlarge and enhance radiographs to assist in rapid diagnosis and to share images with other veterinary specialists when the need arises.
Most pets do not require sedation for an x-ray or ultrasound evaluation. On some occasions, though, depending on a particular pet’s case or their personality, sedation may be required to allow a calm and stress-free appointment. We typically recommend fasting before all x-ray appointments. It ensures we can facilitate getting the information we require in one visit instead of having the pet come back in for a second visit if sedation is required.
The cost for x-ray depends on many different factors from the number of radiograph views needed, the occasional need for contrast agents to enhance the x-ray, or whether we require sedation to facilitate getting some good quality images etc. The same applies for and ultrasound. One of our veterinarians will formulate and discuss an individualized treatment plan for each specific patient depending on their needs.
We would recommend that you contact the clinic at 905-853-4706 so that we can put a treatment plan together to outline the costs for your specific pet.
