We offer orthopedic services to improve your pet's mobility and overall quality of life.
The College Manor Veterinary Hospital is pleased to offer our patients a wide variety of orthopedic care services. “Orthopedic” conditions refer to the disease involving bones, joints, ligaments/tendons and the associated muscles. Some orthopedic conditions can be managed medically with weight reduction, exercise, physical therapy, pain control and joint building supplements. However, many require surgery. Orthopedic surgery requires specialized surgical skills, equipment, and training.
Some of the more common conditions dogs and cats encounter include; developmental bone diseases including cartilage abnormalities and “hip dysplasia”; osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease; soft tissue strains and sprains; fractures caused by trauma; and ligament ruptures especially those involving the anterior cruciate ligament in dogs. The common factor in all of these problems and diseases is that they cause pain and prevent normal mobility of dogs and cats, thereby significantly altering their quality of life.
Dr. Bruch performs all orthopedic surgery at the College Manor Veterinary Hospital. Throughout his career he has received special training in a variety of surgical procedures including; fracture repair (using bone plates and screws, intramedullary pins and wires, and external skeletal fixator application); cruciate ligament rupture repair (including Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, the TightRope procedure and Lateral Suture Technique); patellar luxation repair; and treatment of a variety of hip conditions including hip dysplasia.
